MacOS has an app for that, called aptly Screenshot. By default, it’s icon (a bit tilted white square with macOS semaphore lights at the top left corner and screen selection with camera icon inside) should be in the Dock, if it is not there, open Launchpad and look for it (it’s filed under Utilities) or open Finder / Applications / Utilities. The app allows you to select the area to be “screenshot” and the destination. It also allows you for timed shot taking and recording of the screen.
