In Scrivener, how do you make the page numbers stop before the author's note and epilogue at the end?

The majority of professional writers have a copy of Word. Unfortunately, because the major publishing houses are set up to do proofs and so forth via Word and the specifics of how it tracks edits. A large number of authors use Scrivener to write, however. And that is because it is optimized towards the part of writing that involves putting words on the page. Not towards planning, outlining, or research (although it has some nice tools for organizing research). The most useful thing Scrivener does, in my opinion, is allow you to work with blocks of text that can be arbitrarily arranged but viewed contiguously. Basically, imagine writing an extremely long Word document except you can instantly zap to any section of it and lift that entire selection and move it elsewhere in the document. That alone makes for so much less heartache. I know. I’ve written novels in both Word, Wordstar, and…well, okay, short stories…on a typewriter. Can’t say I’ve written publishable ones, but eighty thousand words is eighty thousand words and Scrivener makes the beast that much easier to manage. >>> What else? You can pop research over, meaning a single story file can contain research, notes, previous drafts, and the current draft. Live links, copy-paste, inline or linked images. While I was writing some scenes “on the road” I actually clipped reference images into the scene then deleted them when I was done. You can nest folders as deep as you like, name them, stick custom icons on them, whatever. You can display in an outline form that is like a simplified spreadsheet; display columns for information of your choice, not limited to draft status, POV… Also in the form of a sort-of-timeline. Also in a freeform cork board, which is very cool for organizing the flow of chapters and scenes (at least it is for me). It has a couple of basic tools, including a name generator (!) and word count targets (very nice for NaNoWriMo). It integrates near-seamlessly with the IOS version so you can share one file between your home machine and a tablet or smart phone. Has a snapshot/history feature. And that’s all I can think of at the moment. I only use the basic functions right now but I got from outline to draft in ten months so something must be working right.
