When writing a book, is there a minimum amount of pages that it should have?

My thoughts on this are not very popular, but I believe the answer is what my Advanced Writing teacher told me about paper length and I think that extends to books and novels as well. “It should me no shorter or longer than it has to be.” A lot of people say 300 pages, but for some books, that is way too long, as in t shouldn't be books at all but maybe short stories or novellas. If it’s a writer I love, like Stephen King, I feel like the answer is “the longer the better.” Although there have been a few books of his I wasn’t crazy about, Under The Dome being the one that comes to mind. I liked the premise of the book, but it didn’t really go anywhere for me. And as some have said, Stephen King would probably get a 2.7 from the east German judge because his dismounts or endings can be not so great. But, for the most part, the joy is in the journey. Right now I am rereading his Wolves of the Calla which weighs in at 246,605 words. I think that is right fine as a novel length, but for me over the years it’s more about the experience than it is about “finishing” it. Once you finish your book or novel, and get a reader or two, t will tell you if it’s too long or short. For me, more often, if I don’t like the premise of the story or it lacks cohesion,it’s difficult to read no matter what length it is. If the story is interesting to me, then it can never be too long.

Add Page Numbers to PDF: All You Need to Know

So I assume there are, on average, about 1,000 pages of a novel. If a novel has 600 pages (i.e. has about 15,000 words, giving it a word count of 300,000, or the same as one full novel) it is about 600 pages of content, or roughly three or four short stories. If it has 400 pages it's 800 pages of content, or roughly three short stories per book, or roughly 10 novellas. The ratio of content to content is roughly 1:2. A typical, hardbound, “novel” takes up about 100-200 pages. One of the reasons that novella and novella-length stories tend to be smaller is because they are usually shorter than 1,000 words. Let me say that again: one page = ~30 words. So we are essentially talking about pages per novella-length work. And this is where I'll get my 1:2 ratio. If your novel takes up 1,000 pages, the.
